We want answers
Geelong Advertiser, 27th April, 2002.
THE Victorian people have a serious problem
when questioning health matters.
The principal centre of such concerns is the
Minister for Health, who is elected by the people to represent them in the
privileged position of minister protecting the community's health.
As a democratic representative of the people,
with a Federal and State constitution to obey, the public concern grows day by
day when the minister does not answer or even acknowledge letters on health
matters. This is also experienced with the Victorian Health Department.
Government press releases saturate the media and their veracity is protected by
the government authors refusing to debate their claims.
Since the beginning of fluoridation in Victoria
the political policy of Liberal, Labour and Nationals is to ignore
correspondence on fluoridation.
This results in a serious undemocratic one-wav
behaviour in our parliamentary procedure, strangely adopted by all parties on
fluoridation.
The unanswered question is why, on this one
particular health matter, are our elected representatives acting accordingly
without reference to those who voted them into parliament?
However, we do have some democratic responsible
regional newspapers, otherwise we become a fully controlled political state.

Anti-Fluoridation Association of Victoria. |
