Kempsey again rejects fluoridation

Once again N.S.W. Government attempted to force the Kempsey Shire Council to fluoridate their drinking water supplies.

The Shire received only one response supporting fluoridation compared with "over 130 pages of anti- fluoride information". The response "was strongly opposed" to fluoridation.

The Shire Council reply to the Area Health Service follows:

"Fluoridation of Public Wafer Supplies

I refer to your letter of 23rd January 2001 relating to subject health measure and advise that Council's approach to the community has resulted in a resounding "no" vote in respect of same. Copies of correspondence received, register of returns and Council's Water Sections views are attached. Your Service's allusion to unnecessary levels of pain and suffering in the community and unacceptably high demand for dental treatment was not reflected in the returns.

Council has, therefore, resolved, at its meeting of 12th June 2001 not to fluoridate its town water supplies (as was the case in 1988). For this position to change all of the concerns set out in the attached returns and reports would need to be adequately addressed by the proponents of fluoridation and further substantiation of the Health Service's views provided.

I trust that Council's current attitude is evident and that our desire to concentrate limited resources on other water quality issues is apparent."

Alcoa and Western Australia

The West Australian 4th August, 2001 reported that:

"People living near Alcoa's Wagerup refinery are up in arms over plans to lift its aluminium bauxite-processing capacity from 2.3 million tonnes a year to 3.3 million tonnes.

"They claim emissions of toxic chemicals and heavy metals are damaging the health of people and livestock.

"Dust taken a kilometre from the refinery, 109 km south of Perth, has shown high levels of heavy metals and fluoride.

"According to the National Pollutant Inventory database, Wagerup sent 35,000 kg of sulfur dioxide, 62 kg of arsenic, 12 kg of cadmium, 390 kg of fluoride, 60 kg of lead and 300 kg of mercury into the air from its smokestacks in 1999-2000."

What a strange world or Country in which we live when media, Government and the do-gooders and bleeding-hearts, spend our money world-wide discussing Global Warming when in reality they would do a real service to mankind by shouting from the Parliament roofs - "GLOBAL WARNING" explaining such pollutants.

Any scientist or politician worth his job would know the health danger of all the above pollution. Who do they really represent?

"Department of Environment Protection regional director Peter Skipmore said it was satisfied with the results of air pollution testing by Alcoa."

So the fox looks after the chicken pen!

"Bill Hodgen, whose farm is about a kilometre from the refinery, said he had constant headaches, sinus problems, nose bleeds and itchy, burning eyes."

Nothing new about that reaction because history of Aluminium Smelters all over Australia records the same effects. (Tasmania, Victoria, Australian Fluoridation News).

Bottled Water

The Water Suppliers are in a dire dilemma because bottled water is now accepted as a premier drink far in preference to polluted tap water.

The media 22nd July reported Tasmanian rainwater as the most expensive in the world selling in the U.S. at $16 a bottle.

Rather a contrast to results of Tasmanian fluoridated tap water.

The Tasmanian bottled water is collected off Tasmanian north-west coast where scientists have recognised the air as the purest in the world, so the collected rainwater is premier quality commonly known as "natural".

The catchment station is near Cape Grim Baseline Air Pollution Station jointly run by the Bureau of Meteorology and the C.S.I.R.O. It is officially the cleanest air in the world, Tony Stewart, Cape Grim Water.

Brisbane Fluoridation Again

During July the Fluoridation Spectre once again surfaced via the Australian Dental Association which never takes NO as an answer.

The Minister of Health, Wendy Edmond, confirmed the controversial issue of mass medication was under consideration. Her Department "had commenced a yearlong investigation into costs and benefits." Yes, it's on again!

Queensland is no friend to the fluoride lobby. Only 6 towns are fluoridated, Townsville, an Army town so it must fluoridate by Army Law, Gatton, Dalby, Mareeba, Callide and Moranbah, a mere 5% of the population.

The Southern Mail quoted Moranbah dentist Athanassiades saying:

"Children's teeth in Moranbah would be 80% better than Clermont, where the water is not fluoridated."

The science of that remark "would be" leaves the locals wondering what "would be" means.

Health Minister Edmonds said a study showed Queensland children had the second worst tooth decay in Australia.

People world wide will smile when reading that Official Health Department statement.

In every Country, every city, every community, where ever it may be on this planet, has experienced the same claim about their people when fluoridation was on the local agenda.

However, if we may be so rude, we suggest Minister of Health Edmond just read the conclusion of the Brisbane Task Force into Fluoridation 1998. It will correct her outrageous statement about Queensland teeth. The Fluoridation Task Force found fluoridation not necessary.

Health Minister Edmonds stated Northern Territory people had the worst teeth in Australia.

However, Minister Edmonds did not add to her statement about N.T. dental problems by explaining that 70% of N.T. population is fluoridated.

With 70% N.T. population on fluoridated water and the worst teeth in Australia, there seems a need for a scientific fact of reckoning which condemns the claims about fluoridation!

The Executive Director of Local Government Association, Greg Hallam, stated:

"If the State Government wants to provide water supplies let them take over. But while reticulated supplies are the responsibility of councils, fluoridation should not be forced on them."

The fluoridation merry-go-round machine is a product of dental fluoride lobby perpetual-motion; it won't stop to let them off.
